The Venetian Villas are surrounded by lush countryside, which for Andrea Palladio, the famous Venetian architect, was effectively “the garden of Venice.” Later, large historic gardens emerged, featuring centuries-old trees, streams, ponds, grottoes, and large green spaces, still perfectly preserved today.
Each park has its own style and history: there are elegantly geometric Italian gardens, romantic English-style parks with lush vegetation, orchards, ancient vegetable gardens with fruit trees, and gardens dotted with sculptures and works of art, veritable open-air museums.
